Solar is currently the fastest growing power generation technology in the world. At Ørsted, we’re utilising solar power to harness nature’s resources and deliver clean, renewable power to the population.

Solar projects are integral to diversifying renewable energy supply. At Ørsted Onshore, we aim to grow our global portfolio to a ~50:50 wind and solar PV capacity mix towards 2030.

Ballinrea Solar Farm

Located just outside Cork City, Ballinrea Solar Farm is expected to power up to 16,000 Irish homes once operational. Ballinrea will add a further 65MW of solar to Ørsted’s global goal of 17.5GW of onshore renewables by 2030.

Garreenleen Solar Farm

Our first Irish solar farm to begin construction is located in Garreenleen, Co. Carlow. Garreenleen Solar Farm is on track to be one of the most significant in Ireland powering up to 56,000 homes. Phase 1 (81MW) will be delivered by 2026 with phase 2 (79MW) to follow shortly after.
