Alongside our work in the communities in which we have developments, Ørsted's Irish team also gives back via charity partnerships and supporting local initiatives. For the past number of years, we have worked closely with our charity partner, The Rainbow Club in Cork. The charity, which provides services to those with autism and their families, was founded in 2015 by Karen O'Mahony and her husband Jon, as a response to their search for services for their two sons. Today, over 60 volunteers help to run the organisation by supporting children, teens, young adults and their families, by bridging the gap in services and activities, to allow them to reach their full potential. Ørsted's charity committee fundraises every year in the office to help them continue to provide these services, and also gives back by volunteering time.
We also contribute to initiatives ran by local organisations. In recent years, we have been delighted to make an annual contribution to the Togher Athletics Club 5km race, which takes place every Christmas. The race, now in its 15th year, raises much-needed funds for the Cork Mental Health Foundation & Housing Association. We are proud to be able to support this important cause and help Togher AC continue to host the event.
Community Benefit Fund Committees
Community Benefit Fund Committees are made up of local volunteers who help decide how funding is distributed. Each committee reflects the voices of the community, ensuring money is allocated fairly and transparently to projects that support sustainability, education, local well-being, and long-term community development.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Garreenleen Fund Committee. Please email your expression of interest to: communitybenefitieuk@orsted.com.
