At Ørsted, we believe that local communities should directly benefit from having a wind farm in their area.

To date, both Kilgarvan I and II have contributed locally in the form of a Community Benefit Fund, with the aim of supporting sustainable development in areas such as:

  • Community Services
  • Education
  • Sports and Recreation
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Energy Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability
  • Tourism

As a part of the Kilgarvan Repower renewable energy project, Ørsted are committing to the continuation of this Community Benefit Fund for many more years to come.

If the project is approved, the local area will benefit from the availability of an annual fund. Funding to date has been provided to:

  • Kilgarvan Community Council
  • Kilgarvan Agricultural Show
  • Kilgarvan GAA
  • Top of the Coom Sheep Shearing
  • Macroom Community Hospital
